Ballroom dancing

Romance at its best

Couple dancing
Ballroom dancing is a beautiful art form which is known to be a social dance form as it encourages social interaction between two people. It is a set of partner dances, which can be danced both socially (at evens or functions) and competitively at dancing competitions around the world. Ballroom dancing can’t be limited to specific steps and patterns as new dances and variations continue to be added. Therefore the beauty of ballroom lies in its constant change and development.
Ballroom dancing has been performed for centuries
Ballroom dancing dances follow a strict tempo which means the movements follow an even pattern of beats to music. The two main types of music you will be dancing to will either be in 3/4 or 4/4. The principles learnt in ballroom dancing can be applied to any type of music such as classical waltzes, disco or rock with the same beat you are looking for.

  1. For me, ballroom dancing isn’t just about doing the steps and moving with the music. It is a perfect combination of social interaction between people, physical activity, and mental stimulation. And whenever you are dancing Waltz, Tango, Rumba, etc., you find yourself having fun and having a pleasurable and rewarding experience.

  2. Dancing is recreational and entertaining. It creates a social life for us, while affording us the opportunity to make new friends. Overall, proper technique is not difficult to learn, but it requires specific instruction. Once you master it, however, your dancing abilities will improve phenomenally.

  3. The Ghanaian culture makes two distinct sorts of fabrics referred to as Kente and Adinkra. Kente clothes are woven with silk and stitched with golden threads made from cotton giving it striking and vibrant patterns. The designs made on Kente are mostly abstract and geometric designs. Colours in clothes have different meanings like red stands for sacrifice, blue stands for sky etc. Another one is Adinkra clothes. They came from the Ashanti people. Adinkra gets its design from printing blocks and dyes. Artists carve a block of prints during a series of various symbols on the surface of the material . The symbols represent warfare and relationships of past.
